Marieke was drawn to working with glass later in life. Originally from Holland, Marieke and her family moved to West Wales 19 years ago, where they bought a rundown farm on the edge of Pembrokeshire’s beautiful National Park. Balancing her time between teaching RAJA yoga, her husbands’ veterinary practice and bringing up her four children, Marieke was looking for a way to express her “inner world” – something she got to know during her four year’ RAJA Yoga training in Amsterdam.

Marieke first started working with glass after enrolling on a stained glass course ran by Pembrokeshire Learning. Discovering her passion and natural talent for working with the material, Marieke continued her training and has now graduated from Swansea’s part-time Architectural Glass Course, after which time she set up The Glass Workshop, Wales.

Passionate about each piece she creates, Marieke believe glass art is all about expression and the pure joy of making it!
